Hello,
I’m Monica
A Haskayne Business Student
Student, entrepreneur, traveler, photographer,
future educator
I’m a third year business student at the Haskayne School of Business in Calgary. I was born and raised in Vancouver and I’m passionate about kids, sustainability, health and travel.
Summer Camp Entrepreneur
For four summers in a row, I ran a business holding summer camps in my back yard for neighbourhood children. This revenue helped finance my post secondary education as well as my passion for travel.
Sustainability Start Up Competitor
GreenSink was my entrepreneurial initiative at the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business. My group was one of twelve chosen to compete at the annual RBC Fast Pitch Competition for seed funding to bring our product to market.
Parisian Au Pair
In 2017 I spent six months in France working as an “au pair” to two young children. This experience reinforced my desire to become an educator, and brought my French up to the standard required to become a French immersion teacher.

GreenSink Sustainable Food Waste Project
GreenSink was one of twelve student entreprenurial projects chosen to compete at the annual Royal Bank RBC Fast Pitch in Calgary. Our project involved market research, prototyping, graphic and website design, as well as presentations to faculty, students, and ultimately to potential investors.

Summer Camp Start Up
My first business was a summer camp for neighbourhood children that I ran from 2012-2015. I marketed my services, hired camp counsellors, budgetted for staff and supplies, planned all the daily events and handled all communication with parents. I loved running these camps, and my repeat customers were a testament to its success.
Haskayne JDC West Team Member
JDC West is the premier annual case competition among Western Canadian university business schools. I competed for Haskayne in 2016 and volunteered in 2018 when University of Calgary was the host school.

Hastings North BIA Events Planner
As a summer student at the Hastings North Business Improvement Association, I helped organize and run the annual Sunrise Summer Kick Off, a community fair with a street hockey tournament, live music, barbeque, community booths, rock climbing, and more. I used my graphic design skills to make coupons, posters, thank you cards and more.
Events Coordinator, U of C RSA
As Events Coordinator on the University of Calgary Residence Students’ Association, I worked with a team of six to plan social events like the Winter Gala, Talent Competitions, Valentine’s Day Cookie Bakes and more.

Photographer
I’ve worked as a freelance photographer for IceBreak Consulting shooting events like the Vancouver Rock n Roll Marathon, but my favourite photographs have always been taken when travelling. Have a look!
